Job Description:
Our people are some of the best in the business. They do what they love in world-class facilities. We are looking for experienced nurses or to train nurses like you to join our winning team.
The Regional Hospital Neonatal Intensive
Care Unit offers tertiary care to infants and their
families in the centra! region of New Zealand. This
includes an infant retrieval and return, road and flight service.
We are a 40 bed unit providing care to neonates as
early as 23 week gestation, and surgical infants.
Our average annual admission rate is approximately1,000 infants..
Our Neonatal Team is dedicated to addressing the
needs of critically ill babies, premature newborns
and infants requiring close observation. We provide a supportive environment and promote family centred developmental care.
We are a diverse staff mix focused on professional
development and advancement. Our nursing staff work both 8 and 12 hour shifts, with the opportunity to combine the shifts to best suit personal or family needs.
Flight Team
Our dedicated Transport Team provides retrieval and return services for infants within the region, working in conjunction with the Westpac Trust fixed-wing aircraft and rescue helicopter services as well as our local Free Ambulance service.
Community Team
Our Community Team provides an essential service
for our families which includes discharge planning and community visits for those- who may require specialised neonatal care once at home.
They liaise with members of the Multi-disciplinary
Team to ensure every infant's needs are met with
the appropriate out-patient follow-up care and
appointments.
Education
Professional development is offered through highly
skilled lecturers. This involves in-service education
within the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. as well
as support to continue with further university
studies. and specialist neonatal papers.
The Professional Development and Recognition
Programme (PDRP) provides staff with incentives
and opportunities to advance their career.
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is also a part
of the Nurse Entry into Practice Programme
(NETP)which is designed to provide a safe
and well-supported environment where the
Graduate Nurse can advance from beginner to
competent practitioner. Competent practice is
achieved through clinical preceptorship, reflective
practice, critical thinking and diagnostic reasoning
grounded in clinical nursing practice to develop
the graduate nurse's clinical competence within
the Registered Nurse Scope of Practice.
Qualifications:
Eligible for registration with the New Zealand Nursing Council
Experience:
2+ years of Neonatal experience at Level 3, however Level 2 will be considered
